Nine wonderful years of Roundabout

January saw us celebrate a mammoth nine years of Roundabout Circus. Nine years of classes, performances, friendships, growth and plenty of upside-down moments along the way.

Thanks to everyone who came to discover what we do, and to our community who've been with us for all or part of our nine years, and helped us celebrate. Despite the weather, we had a wonderful day.

Families, adults, curious first-timers and long-time circus friends moved through the studio all day. The rigs were up, the mats were down, and there was a lot of energy in our studio.

Students and coaches performed, demonstrated skills and answered questions. You could see the pride in our performers as they shared what they’ve worked so hard on. You could also see the encouragement as new faces were invited to give circus a try and just have a go.

There were aerial demonstrations, ground skills, strength work and plenty of moments where someone surprised themselves.

Where we started

Nine years ago, Roundabout began with a simple idea. To create a space on the coast where people of all ages could learn circus in a way that felt welcoming, safe and strong. We’ve come a long way since those early days. Here's a few flashback photos from the early days.

We are so excited about making a 10-year photo book for next year. It is fun to find the familiar faces in old photos and to have been a part of their circus journeys, young and old alike. So many hairstyles, so many wins and weird poses. If you have any great circus memory photos that you would like to contribute to our album as we create a catalogue for the big 10 next year, please reach out and share them.  We are here for it all.

Thanks everyone - we love our Roundabout community!!
