Meet Lana. Playfulness in performance

Our November Roundabout Circus spotlight shines on Lana.

Lana joined Roundabout as a young teen and has grown into a performer who lights up every stage. She’s curious, courageous, and full of heart. Everything we love to see in our community.

At this year’s Bend the Air aerial competition in Newcastle, Lana wowed the judges with her Puss in Boots act, a playful, character-filled trapeze routine packed with storytelling and charm.

Her coach, Hunnah, said Lana poured her heart into bringing the character to life.

“Every playful smirk and reach of her paws showed her joy on stage,” she said. “Her commitment to storytelling and character work truly shone through.”

That joy clearly paid off. Lana earned first place in the Open Apparatus Performance Category, recognised for her creativity and technical execution. She also scored an incredible 99 out of a possible 100 for her act. We’re still wondering what that missing point was. Maybe her boots!

“This was Lana’s first-ever dance trapeze act, with less than three months of training, and she never put pressure on herself to win. She simply enjoyed performing, and that joy was felt by the judges, audience and her peers. I’m incredibly proud of how she approached this routine with creativity, humility and heart. Lana absolutely deserves this result and the chance to attend Nationals.” said Hunnah

Lana lives and breathes our values of Playfulness, Self-Discipline, and Empowerment, showing that courage and joy go hand in hand.

We're so proud of you, Lana!
