Hello, lovely humans,
I know there is a lot of happening in the world right now and many people are carrying heavy hearts and uncertainty. A few years ago, I decided that when things are seeming out of balance in the world, I want to double down on focusing on bringing more joy, celebrating the wins and reminding myself and others that even when things are tough and we feel the weight of the world, there is SO MUCH GOOD in our community. So here are some of my positive reflections to remind you that community and the arts are a lifeline. When we get stuck in our heads, or scrolling the news, we can lose sight of the here and now, the people, the good and the joyful moments.
Let's start by saying it has been a fabulous term with lots of new circus friends joining our community. We wrapped it up with our Tea and Circus AGM on 28 March, and it was such a special night, celebrating the past 12 months and reflecting on the journey it has been. I want to officially welcome our incoming Board of Directors:

Chairperson - Kevin Walsh Vice Chair - Nick Stallman Treasurer - Anna Golubeva Secretary - Angie Melville General - Andy Long General - Pauline Maniskas General - Sam Altmann
I would like to say a big thank you to Tina who is stepping down from Vice Chair of the Board, but continuing as an association member. We're also thrilled to welcome Angie as our incoming secretary. If you've been around Roundabout for more than five minutes, you may already know Angie or some of her children. She's one of our longest-standing circus families, mum to eight homeschooled circus kids and now young adults, a STEM Educator, and someone who has had our back since before we even officially launched.
Read Tina and Angie's Roundabout story here. It's a goodie.
Andy and I also had a great day at the Suburban Business Summit at Gosford Library, where we had an exhibition table and connected with so many brilliant local business owners, including 2 of our Board members representing their regular jobs. The event organisers rang me 2 days before and said they needed a "Disrupter" to entertain between the sessions. I knew I had just the right guy haha. It was also my birthday so I enjoyed the free catered lunch alongside some networking and spruiking our Team Building collaborations with Narara Eco Village. It was nice to be a part of the conversations about the future of Gosford and advocating for small business, charities and the arts. We wear all the hats!
APRIL HOLIDAY PROGRAM
The holidays are here, and we're ready. Circus camps, workshops, family sessions and adult classes are running 7 to 16 April at our studio.
For the kids, Youth Circus Camps run Monday, Tuesday and Thursday with half-day and full-day options. Wednesday is my favourite Family Circus Fun, Youth Acro and Aerials, and the Level Up Camp for teens and experienced students For the adults, the open-level Aerial and Circus workshop runs Wednesday evening, plus Open Training and Juggle Club throughout the week.
We're also mindful of what's going on at the moment with the cost of living, so are offering a 10% discount when you use the code 'COAST10' when you book your spot or members can log on to BAND for 20% discount code. Full details and pricing are on our website here.
WORLD CIRCUS DAY | CIRCUS OLYMPICS
Saturday 18 April is World Circus Day, and we're celebrating with Circus Olympics at the studio. Who can hula hoop the longest? Juggle the longest? Handstand the longest? Catch a grape in their mouth? We will have an open day with free workshops in the morning and then get playfully competitive in the afternoon. Details dropping soon.
CATCH ME ON COAST FM THIS SATURDAY
I'm heading into Coast FM this week to record a chat with Sarah King, airing Saturday morning on the Your Home with Sarah King Show. Tune in if you want to hear me talk all things circus at an enthusiastic volume.
STUDENT SPOTLIGHT ON IRENE
Our latest spotlight is on Irene, another colourful lady we have here at Roundabout. Two years in and still finding new things to love about circus. She makes her own homemade bubble poi and of course they are rainbow so I am a fan! Go and give her some love. Read Irene's story.
ALIAS CABARET | Y2K TEASE
Some of you might remember when last year's ALIAS sold out before most people had even heard about it. Tickets are live now. Aerial, burlesque, fire, throwback bangers, prizes for best Y2K outfit, Dan's Jerk Truck from 6pm, and a few surprises we're not telling you about. This one is 18+ only. Doors 6:30pm, show 7:30pm, Saturday 2 May. 96 Showground Rd, Gosford. Get your tix before they sell out!
I want to finish by sharing a little moment that gave me hope this month. One of our regular Avoca Market kids, Miss R, is 11 years old and this month shared her Public Speaking Speech with us about Building Peace Bridges. She eloquently stood and talked about how we can build connections and understanding with others through 'listening to learn'. She shared ideas on how to use bricks for building bridges instead of walls and sharing culture and traditions to get to know our neighbours better. I had goosebumps listening to her, not just as a good orator [Better than some at the Business Summit ;) ], but listening to the next generation have passion and purpose about community building, culture and peace. Now, more than ever, is a time to stay connected to community, to listen and learn about our neighbours, and to play with purpose. There is a lot of love in the world when you choose to focus on it. Have a beautiful holiday and make time to truely BE with your loved ones and be present.
