At Roundabout, our students don’t just learn circus skills. They discover confidence, creativity and connection, and they find a place where they truly belong.
This month’s Student Spotlight shines on Isabelle, one of our young adults whose courage and creativity recently helped bring Neverland to life.
Isabelle had been working on building a crocodile costume out of recycled materials and was going to perform as the puppet master of Nanna the dog and the crocodile character. When the role of Hook suddenly became vacant, Isabelle didn’t hesitate. She learned the part overnight and with the help of her sister Autumn, cast as Peta Pan, she rehearsed the show 3 times at home before opening show less than 24 hours later. And she still did the puppeteering!
“When the role became available I knew I could rely on Izzy to make it happen. She learned the part overnight and brought Hook to life with courage and creativity. She literally saved the show”
What makes Isabelle special isn’t just her talent. It’s her kindness, determination and quiet confidence. The same qualities that make Roundabout’s community so strong and welcoming.
Isabelle’s mum, Philippa, says joining Roundabout has been a turning point for her daughter.
“She didn’t fit what they wanted her to do. And then we came to Roundabout and she was just fully embraced in everything that she was. All of her everything.” - Phillippa
Outside of Circus, Isabelle has taken on a leadership role in the local Youth4Youth team with Central Coast Council, is leading drama classes through her school and recently filmed and directed a short film that was showcased at the local Gosford Library "The possibility of one day in a lifetime". Isabelle has been one of our junior staff members for over 3 years and it has been a pleasure to watch her thrive, both in circus and in the world. Thanks for being part of our Roundabout team, Isabelle. You really do make the impossible possible.
